Giving You a Choice, to Change -

Home Detox from Alcohol Dependence
in England and Wales.

AIM supports people to detox from alcohol effectively, and recover from their alcohol addiction successfully, by supporting you to deal with alcohol withdrawal symptoms safely

Here's how AIM can support you;

First let us identify:

1)  What are your needs? - by completing a quick assessment that is often used by GPs called the AUDIT, and then the SADQ.

2)  What do you want to achieve? - from the assessment, we can discuss and set up your goals.  Is this to reduce drinking, support with binge drinking, or a total detox from problematic and dependent alcohol use.

3)  Is it safe to support you at home?  Stopping heavy alcohol use can be dangerous, lets get the right plan in place to support you the best way we can.

4)  A plan to prevent relapse and promote ongoing recovery. Stopping drinking is often the first part of the task, if you would like support maintaining abstinence, then we can discuss and plan for this also.

Assessment of alcohol dependence can be made in several ways, AIMs assessment is based upon your history, your experiences, your symptoms and your goals of what you wish to achieve.

The SADQ (Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire) and can be found here

This is used as part of our assessment, it will also be helpful to keep a log of your drinking prior to assessment.

AIM can successfully support you with reducing and safely discontinuing problematic or harmful patterns of alcohol use.

AIM can also provide a medicated detox to treat the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.

AIM will provide 1:1 support throughout any interventions, utilising brief psychosocial interventions.

1:1 nursing support in your own home to safely reduce and discontinue harmful or problematic alcohol use.

    • A home detox from alcohol comprises of an assessment, then a period of interventions / suppport to monitor alcohol use and guidance to reduce this gradually and safely.

    • We then enter a period of planned and structured home alcohol detox treatment, and AIM would expect to interact with you every day for the first week of this period and maintain contact with you throughout.

    • It is advisable to have someone identified as a support person during a detox, and we will discuss this further at assessment.

    • We will have a period of weekly contact after a detox so AIM can continue any support required.
